Welcome to the School of Environmental Studies The School of Environmental Studies, known for its dedication to excellence in the field of environmental sciences, offers a wide range of cutting-edge diploma options that cater to a diverse range of interests and career aspirations. Welcome to the School for built environmentalists where the history of the school began with the department of Architectural Technology under the influence of the first substantive Rector. It was one of the Institute’s first departments to open its doors in 2007. The department was initially united with the Sciences to form a School but was later split and became the school's first department. The Estate Management and Valuation department was the second to be established in 2012. The Building Technology department was established in 2016. The Quantity Surveying and the Urban and Regional Planning department were eventually added to the school respectively In keeping with the Institution’s vision and mission, the school has spent the last few years focusing on creating an extraordinary teaching and learning environment for imparting necessary skills in the built environment education that is relevant to national and global development. The school's mission is to train future architects, planners, designers, builders, surveyors, estate surveyors, and valuers for national growth. It is pleasing to note that, with a total of (5) full-fledged Departments, the school has not shied away from the duty of becoming the nation's pride in the training of environmental professionals, as attested to by the industry. We provide exceptional opportunities for immersive learning, industrial training, workshops, research collaborations and hands-on fieldwork thanks to qualified and experienced staff from different cadres in their respective fields. We foster critical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and a strong awareness by immersing students in a multidisciplinary learning environment. Through internships, courses, and collaborations with industry experts, we develop practical experiences that connect theory to real-world application. Our graduates emerge as forward-thinking professionals capable of making a significant and long-term impact on the study, preservation, and long-term management of our treasured environment. Whether you are interested in architectural technology, building technology, estate management & valuation, or any other aspect of environmental studies, the School of Environmental Studies is your entry point to a rewarding and impactful career dedicated to protecting our planet for future generations.
